David is a proven leader in marketing and advertising having served in various corporate and agency positions during the past 16 years. He founded David James Group to build a better type of agency for progressive marketers.
Prior to founding David James Group, he served as Executive Vice President for an integrated marketing communications agency in Chicago. There he was responsible for the Food Practice and Internet Solutions Group. Under David's leadership, the food business grew more than 300 percent since 1996 and the agency launched several award-winning campaigns for many high profile company's selling to the food processing and food service industries. David launched successful integrated marketing campaigns for industry leaders such as Motorola, ShowCase Corporation, Grain Processing Corporation and Information Resources Inc.
Prior to TKI, David worked for Smith, Bucklin & Associates, the world's largest management consultancy for professional associations. David served as chief staff executive for several client-server and telecommunications-based customer user groups, including the Americas' SAP User Group (ASUG). Now Smith Bucklin's largest client, David launched ASUG in the United States at a time when SAP America's highly successful client server software solution was introduced in this country. His role included responsibility for developing the organization's financial and operational infrastructure to support its rapid growth. He also served as executive director of the National Rolm Telecommunications Users Group (NRUG) and as associate director of the Society for Information Management -- a leading membership organization for chief information officers. Prior to his role leading customer user groups, David launched marketing and public relations programs for a number of Smith Bucklin clients in the technology and healthcare industries.
David began his career at the Healthcare Financial Management Association marketing new products and services, launching the association's annual trade show and coordinating public relations efforts.
He is actively involved in marketing and advertising organizations, including the Business Marketing Association, and serves on the marketing advisory board at Northern Illinois University. He has also served on the Communications Committee for the American Heart Association.
David received his bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communications, with a minor in sociology, from the University of Iowa.
